SaddleBrooke Community Outreach
8/2010 – SaddleBrooke Community Outreach was established in 1996 to make a positive impact on the lives of economically disadvantaged children living in the tri-community area of Pinal County. Primary services include: the Kids' Closet; a high school scholarship and mentoring program; an afterschool-tutoring program; emergency food assistance; and summer enrichment programs. The mission of SaddleBrooke Community Outreach is to make a positive impact on the lives of needy children in neighboring communities through improved self-respect, better school attendance, and higher scholastic achievement.
In March 2010, The Stocker Foundation awarded $3,250 to SaddleBrooke Community Outreach toward the continuation of Kids' Closet, a program that provides new school wardrobes to economically-disadvantaged students. Kids' Closet completed a successful year providing 3488 new school wardrobes to 2269 needy youth in 20 schools, 8 schools, and 3 counties. Funds from the Stocker Foundation specifically went to clothing 50 youth in Pima County. Wardrobes include six pairs of socks and underwear, three pants and shirts, hygiene items, and 2 books along with athletic sneakers and a windbreaker for the fall.
SaddleBrooke's goal was to clothe all the young people that the school administrators selected as needing clothes to attend school. They succeeded, turning no one away. As a result of SaddleBrooke's efforts, the youth they are clothing are achieving better academic standings, passing more state mandated tests, and attending better colleges and universities.
Quotes from recipients:
“Special thanks to ALL (who) contribute in making our children smile.” Delores
“Thank you 4 the clothes and all the help and time you did to make my life better.” Tony
